1More
on Lifelong Learning: Although the term is widely used in
a variety of contexts its meaning is often unclear....
There
are several established contexts for lifelong learning beyond
traditional "brick and mortar" schooling:
Home schooling where this involves development
of informal learning patterns. (the essence of independent
study)
Adult education or the acquisition of formal
qualifications or work and leisure skills later in life.
Continuing education which often describes
extension or not-for-credit courses offered by higher education
institutions.
Knowledge work which includes professional
development and on-the-job training.
Personal learning environments or self-directed
learning using a range of sources and tools including online
applications

Are You A Non-Profit?
No. But we do have a close alliance with
LearnShop Foundation, a Georgia non-profit corporation
dedicated to promoting lifelong learning and wellness
through technology-enabled outreach programs for the faith-based
community, at-risk youth and the unemployed. The foundation's
mission is to ultimately curtail college attrition and
correlated workplace morale problems through exploring
interdisciplinarity. Basically, we make it easy to learn
about different professions, trades, activities, and related
technology tools. To determine eligibility and to find

Modeled after the "Learning Regions"
program in the EU, learnshops differ from standalone workshops
and traditional academia because they target the need for
lifelong learning (LLL) within our communities and enterprises.
The are run by coaches, not lecturers. They promote literacy,
dialog, teambuilding and introspection. It is an inclusive,
local approach to a global problem that, with continued
adoption, successfully addresses:
• Development of a regional
& local learning culture
• Easier access to training, education,
& apprenticeship
• Motivating more people to take part in
non-mandated continuing education
& introduce learnshops to others
• Engaging learners
of all ages through constructivist learning
• Unlocking enterprises & their employees
to LLL
• Quality assurance in educational guidance
• Promoting the inherent creativity
of our local educators
